SA’s leading provider of CVS medicine launches two new valsartan products
Pharma Dynamics, the country’s leading supplier of cardiovascular medicine, has introduced Regoval (valsartan) and Regoval Co (valsartan/hydrochlorothiazide).
Valsartan is an angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB), which treats hypertension and heart failure.
Nicole Jennings, spokesperson for Pharma Dynamics says Regoval and Regoval Co fill an important gap in the market and targets patients who are unable to tolerate angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors.
“In addition to giving doctors and patients a wider choice, the two products further bolster Pharma Dynamics’ already extensive CVD treatment portfolio to 26 products – positioning the company as SA’s biggest provider of heart medication.
When reviewing the hypertension market in SA, PD is the market leader in hypertension medication with a 23% market share and the organisation boasts at least one molecule in each of the six classes of CVS medication available in South Africa.
Regoval is indicated for the treatment of mild to moderate hypertension, improves survival following myocardial infarction and treats heart failure (NYHA class II-IV), while Regoval Co treats mild to moderate hypertension.
Both Regoval and Regoval Co are affordably priced and offers patients at least a 60% saving compared to the originator and a 30% saving when compared to the pseudo-generic.
Unlike most competitors, Regoval and Regoval Co conveniently come in packs of 30 tablets, which will be reimbursed by the majority of medical aids.

Jennings reiterates the importance of a healthy diet as part of the management of hypertension.
“Pharma Dynamics offers healthcare practitioners and patients access to over 100 heart-healthy recipes from the Cooking from the Heart cookbook series, which have been developed in conjunction with the Heart and Stroke Foundation South Africa.
“The most recent addition is the Cooking from the Heart salt charts guide, which will assist hypertensive patients in reducing their daily sodium intake,” she says.
