Aspen reaches more than 920 000 beneficiaries through Mandela Day

Durban – JSE-listed Aspen Pharmacare Holdings Limited (“Aspen”), a global specialty and branded pharmaceutical company, is marking the 16th consecutive year of its Mandela Day campaign.

Over this period, this Group flagship corporate social investment initiative has mobilised more than 46,500 employees and positively impacted over 920,000 beneficiaries across the world.

Stephen Saad, Aspen Group Chief Executive said, “Our employees are the driving force behind our Mandela Day campaign. Since its inception, they have come together year after year to identify and address pressing needs within their local communities, motivated not by recognition, but by compassion, generosity and a genuine desire to make a meaningful difference. Many of these volunteers have devoted their time and energy to serving others despite facing personal challenges of their own, remaining steadfast in their commitment to improving the lives of those less fortunate.”

“We take pride in the impact made by our people and are deeply grateful for their unwavering dedication. Their spirit cannot be manufactured or mandated. It reflects the character of our people and the many family members who have joined them in this journey over the years. This is the Aspen way. It is how we honour our commitment to leaving a lasting, positive imprint on the lives of people across continents. It is how we care.”

According to United Nations forecasts1, an estimated 808 million people were expected to live in extreme poverty in 2025, representing approximately one in every 10 people worldwide, or 9,9% of the global population. These sobering figures underscore the urgent need for citizens, businesses and organisations around the world to unite in addressing the challenges faced by marginalised communities.

At Aspen, we believe that each of us has a role to play in helping to combat poverty and inequality. Through our Mandela Day campaign, our people continue to translate that belief into meaningful action, creating lasting impact in the communities they serve.
